The Braw Cinema Club returns on the 18th September with one of the most underrated sequels ever. We can probably agree that the first flick was one of the greatest horror films of all time – and the second was one of the crappiest films ever committed to celluloid, but where’s the love for the third? It’s been getting more flowers over the years and rightly so, because The Exorcist III has a lot going for it. Directed by the original author William Peter Blatty himself, who takes a slower arthouse approach to his own material behind the lens. It’s not perfect by any means, it moves and shimmy’s around like a brooding police procedural with a Zodiac killer inspired subplot, but with some very good scares and a solid lead performance from George C. Scott. The film was in development hell during the production and sadly the infamous/mysterious director’s cut has been lost for some time now, so we’ll be showing the 'Legion' edition from the bluray which is about as close we’ll get to Blatty’s vision. Fun facts, this was Jeffrey Dahmer’s favourite film and he had it on repeat in his smelly flat whilst he ‘hosted’ various victims – and there’s some blink and you’ll miss it cameos from meathead model, Fabio - and New York Knicks legendary centre, Patrick Ewing!
