Brave The BRRR will be a first of it's kind winter camping event where guests can test their gear and outdoor endurance amongst friends, new and old! This inaugural event will run for 3 days, 2 nights on private property just outside Fredericton, NB. Guests will be welcome anytime after noon on Friday and can stay until 3pm Sunday. We are still determining the most ideal weekend for this even (Jan-early Mar), and we may do a poll to determine which weekend best captures hopeful attendees!
Goal of BTB '25:
Bring together people from different activity bases to enjoy a truly Canadian-style event. Brave The BRRR will allow folks to test their gear in a location & setting that enhances safety, allowing you to test your limits. This safety comes from the close proximity to services roads, experienced community members, and readily available peer-assistance.
We envision this event growing to showcase skills and equipment from a large variety of winter activities, with the first year being a good test of capacity and activity limits.
Who can come?
Anyone is welcome, campers will have a small fee to help cover the rental of portable toilets, a warming tent and some expenses for setting up this first edition. Day visitors are not currently planned, as there is not suitable parking for a large number of vehicles before entering the short trail system. Guests can camp in:
1) Vehicles/trailers/Roof Top Tents (expecting space for 35-45 vehicles);
2) Tents (for the dismounted adventure seeker); (expecting space for 20 winter tents); or,
3) Improvised shelters! Yes, that is right - there will be an area with 8ft pine trunks (pre-cut) and many standing small pines, for participants who want to test their skills.
Activities to expect:
1) Camp Fire (Community spaces)
2) Local Craft Beer Samples
3) Sliding
4) Snowshoeing
5) Ice skating (weather dependent)
6) Improvised Shelter demo
7) First Aid & Cold Weather injury demo
8) Safe Vehicle Recovery demo(s)
9) Tire Repair demo(s)
10) Tent heating device demo
11) Winter activity / equipment demo (local vendors - TBC)
Expected Cost:
This is a moving target, and really depends on what we need to rent for equipment. We anticipate ranges of $30-40 (tent / shelter) and $60-90 (vehicle). Final prices / packages should be available around the end of October when we release ticket sales.
How to Get Involved:
Own a local business (food, drink, solar, battery, fuel, camp gear, etc) or have a special skill you want to share? Reach out and we can discuss sponsorship / demo involvement!
