What th e purpose of workshop?
This workshop helps heal and enhance our relationships to touch. Practice asking for what you want, like hugs or conversations, and practice setting boundaries.
Voice your YES, empower your NO, and feel validated just as you are.
What happens in the workshop?
We begin with talking about group guidelines, then fun icebreakers and easy movements to warm up. Mindfulness exercises help us get in touch with the wisdom of our bodies and allow space to not feel rushed. Through guided exercises, we practice asking for what we would like, receiving other’s boundaries graciously, and feeling comfortable saying yes or no to requests in a low-stakes setting. Facilitated rounds and demonstrations allow us to practice at our own pace and work in small groups, all while tuning into ourselves and listening to our instincts. We will then have time to connect with the healing energy that is inside all of us through asking for hugs, platonic cuddling, conversations, games, or simply being present in the space.
Do I have to participate in all the activities?
Nope! No touch is required. You NEVER have to do anything you are not comfortable with. All exercises are up to you: there will be options, and you decide how and if you would like to participate. Your “no” will be celebrated as a way you are taking care of yourself.
Why should I attend?
Through these activities and communication exercises, you may experience an increased sense of wellbeing and belonging, a boost in compassion and playfulness, a decrease in blood pressure and even a better night's sleep.
What is the setting and the vibe?
Held in a comfortable, cozy space with pillows and soft places to sit. This is a G-rated, platonic event. Clothes stay on at all times (at minimum of shorts and a tank top).
All must arrive and remain sober throughout the event. You may find yourself getting a natural high on oxytocin - often called the "hug hormone."
Please freshen up before arriving and avoid scented products and perfume/cologne. Bring anything you need to get cozy! Wear comfortable clothing like pajamas or sweats.
