Last one of 2024 ! Join the repair revolution! 🌍💚
Come along anytime 10am-1pm to get your items mended and learn some new skills!
👕 Textile & clothing repairs (always available)
Such as replacing zips and buttons (bring your own zips and buttons), darning teddy bears, simple alterations, visible darning
This month we are also pleased to offer the following:
Household electrical & mechanical repairs
Men's Shed - PAT testing available
👉PLUS Skills Workshop: learn basic sewing skills and make a Christmas wall hanging at the same time as using second hand fabrics.
However, as we rely on volunteers, we can't always guarantee that all these skills will be available.
If you have any questions, email [email protected] at least 48 hours before the event to give us time to respond.
👉Please note:
We are not a professional repair service, so please don’t bring us ‘fancy’ repairs like wedding dresses - just drop us a message if you’re not sure.
☕We will also be serving cake and hot drinks to keep you refreshed while you watch and learn.
🧵If you are unsure on whether to bring an item or not - please email [email protected] and we will run it by our sewing stars to see what we can do.
💸 This is a FREE service! Donations are welcome but not expected.
💚 We'd love it if you could stay whilst we repair your items, our cafes are about building community connection and sharing skills too.
📆UPCOMING BRAUNTON REPAIR CAFES 📆
We look forward to sharing our 2025 plans with you soon!
🙋 VOLUNTEER WITH US 🙋
We are always on the lookout for a few more volunteers, either to share their mending skills at the Cafes or to help out behind the scenes and welcome people on the day. You don’t need to be a professional seamstress or upholsterer or mechanic to volunteer - just someone with some basic skills who is happy to share what they know. There is no pressure to undertake any repairs that you are not confident with.
Please get in touch on [email protected] if you would like to get involved.
🙏THANKS AND FUTURE PLANS🙏
Our Braunton Repair Cafe is a partnership project, part of Plastic Free North Devon’s expanding Repair Cafe network, hosted by the Museum of British Surfing, with the support of volunteers from the local community.
Thanks to funding from the Post Code Lottery and NatureSave funding and previous funding from National Lottery Together For Our Planet Community Fund, and the support of North Devon towns and villages, we currently have repair cafes in Landkey, Braunton, South Molton, Ilfracombe, and Barnstaple.
