Bras Basah: A Tapestry of Time
Bras Basah is one of Singapore’s oldest districts, reflecting the nation’s vibrant past and dynamic future. Its streets, a blend of historical and modern architecture, tell tales of multiculturalism and progress. Notable buildings, from educational institutions to religious sites, mark the landscape, each with a story echoing the district’s transformation. Through the collections of the National Library Board and the National Heritage Board, this talk explores the historical journey and transformation of Bras Basah, revealing the layers of change and identity that it has experienced since the arrival of the British.
