December is a wonderful time to be in the Smokies and offers the best views, fewer hikers on the trails and still so much to observe, learn about and enjoy in the natural world.We will make new discoveries along the way and investigate whatever crosses our path and catches our interest. This will include anything from birds and other wildlife to a diversity of plants, as well as animal tracks and traces.
