About this Event

GFRP (fiberglass) as reinforcement of concrete structures.

GFRP is increasingly being used in reinforced concrete structures as an alternative to steel reinforcement, primarily where corrosion resistance is important, as in bridges etc.

This seminar will introduce the GFRP material compared to steel and describe the design process of GFRP-reinforced concrete structures according to Canadian, US and European Codes.

Course Outline:

- Introduction of GFRP materials: properties, production, benefits, applications

- Design of concrete structures reinforced with GFRP

- Relevant design codes in Canada and the USA

- Project references
