Learning Objectives. Attendees will :
Understand normal brain aging and what cognitive changes to expect over time
Explore interventions that support brain function and memory retention.
Learn how HIV can impact neurological health and increase certain risks.
Identify early signs of cognitive decline and when to seek medical advice.
Come hear answers to these and more, and bring your own questions!
1. What are some common cognitive changes that occur with normal aging, and when should we be concerned?
2. How does being HIV-positive impact brain health and cognitive function as one ages?
3. What lifestyle habits—such as diet, exercise, and sleep—are most beneficial for maintaining brain health?
4. Are there specific foods or supplements that can help improve memory and cognitive function?
5. How does stress and mental health affect brain aging, and what strategies can help manage stress effectively?
6. What role does social engagement play in preventing cognitive decline, and how can we stay socially active?
7. Can certain medications, including HIV treatments, impact brain function over time?
8. What are the early warning signs of neurocognitive disorders like dementia or HIV-associated neurocognitive disorder (HAND)?
9. How can mental exercises, such as puzzles, reading, or learning new skills, help keep the brain sharp?
10. Are there any new medical advancements or research findings related to brain health and aging with HIV?
We will also have exit drawings at the end of the event (must be present to win).
