About this Event
Spanning the last two centuries, the West Coast Symphony Orchestra brings together a program which is both quirky and exhilarating. Starting the concert is a whimsical, teasing piece by Vancouverite composer, Gabriella Yorke. The stage will then be turned over to one of the city's most sought after musicians, CEO of the Vancouver Academy of Music, Joseph Elworthy*, who will impeccably bring to life the animated and romantic Schumann Cello Concerto. Finishing the evening is the sublime and majestic, emotionally conflicting Symphony No. 4 by Brahms.
Program:
Yorke: Absent-Minded Waltz
Schumann: Cello Concerto in A Minor, Op. 129*
Brahms: Symphony No. 4 in E minor, Op. 98
Financially, the orchestra relies on the generosity of audience members to offset concert and overhead costs, which average $35 per person per concert. The suggested donation of $30 per person can be contributed through Eventbrite on the next page.
