Damian Chase BVSc, MANZCVS, DECVS, European and NZ Registered Specialist in Small Animal SurgeryThis one-day workshop will address the challenges faced when presented with a dog with Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome. It will aid both your medical and surgical decision making in these complex and often urgent cases.
You will learn about the anatomical and pathophysiologic changes associated with BOAS and the surgical techniques to correct them, as well as pre- and post-operative management of these compromised patients.
Delegates will have plenty of opportunity to practice surgical techniques in a wet-lab setting.
Key Skills:
At the end of this workshop delegates should be able to:
- Make decisions on management of dogs with airway obstruction
- Confidently perform pharyngeal and laryngeal examinations on brachycephalic dogs
- Learn and apply the principles of brachycephalic surgery and know when and when not to operate
- Confidently perform temporary tracheostomy
