Join the Black Professionals Network (BPN) for an invigorating 4.5-mile hike through some of Fort Collins' beautiful natural landscapes!
This moderate hike offers the perfect opportunity to connect with other Black professionals, explore the outdoors, and unwind in a supportive group setting. Led by Outdoor Adventure Lead, Dan Briggs, explore all the beauty that northern Colorado has to offer in a group of your peers.

Itinerary:
- 8:00 AM: Meet at Swan Johnson Trail parking lot, intros, and warm-up
- 8:30 AM: Begin hike
- 9:40 AM: Halfway scenic water break
- 10:50 AM: Estimated hike completion
- 11:00 AM: Group stretch, cool-down, and discussion
- 11:30 AM: Event concludes
Trail Details:
- Distance: 4.5 miles, moderate difficulty
- Elevation Gain: ~800 ft, ranging from 5,440 to 6,130 ft
- Kid-friendly and dog-friendly (leashes required)
- Approx. 2 to 2.5 hours to complete
What to Bring:
- Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and footwear
- Water and snacks (electrolytes recommended)
- Optional: camera, binoculars for wildlife spotting
Packing List Suggestions:
Head: Skull cap or cap, sunglasses
Top: Sweat-wicking base layer, fleece or wool jacket, rain-proof outer layer
Hands: Lightweight gloves
Legs: Hiking pants/shorts (hydrophobic material recommended)
Feet: Hiking boots/trail shoes
Backpack: Extra layers, snacks, water, whistle, flashlight, power bank
Safety Notes:
- Stay on the paved trail to avoid wildlife encounters
- Be aware of ticks and snakes; do not harm wildlife
- In case of emergency, nearby facilities include UC Health Poudre Valley Hospital and City Police Department
