We begin with a conversation with Rahsaan about his new installation of Photography. After the discussion, we groove into the sunset with sounds curated by Fly Guy and Friends.

BPM: BEATS, PICS, & MASTERS, By Rahsaan “FLY GUY” Alexander, is a three-part visual art series focussing on and bringing awareness to the mental, emotional, and psychological tolls taken on DJs who have committed much of their careers and passions to entertaining audiences night after night; for years. The goal is to ultimately humanize the artist (which is the DJ) to the general public in hopes of giving insight into the struggles and complexities shared by countless DJs around the world in a post-COVID time. In 2024 at Point Comfort Art Fair & Show we showcase the 2nd part in this series, which is focused on our local DJ culture.
On December 8, 2023, during Art Basel Miami, Hampton Art Lovers and Point Comfort Art Fair + Show at the Historic Ward Rooming House Gallery in Historic Overtown for Part One of the BPM series: The Opening “Set” which highlighted 12 renowned DJs photographed portrait style with emphasis on their eyes; and the stories that they hold. In addition to the exhibition we conducted an artist talk with DJ FLY GUY and VIBE magazine Editor-In-Chief Datwon Thomas (Point Comfort’s 2023 Cultural Ambassador); moderated by Dr James Peterson.
