The spotlight is set to shine on local talent as the Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) Theatre Program, in collaboration with the Cavalier Players, announces auditions for the enchanting Broadway musical, "Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella."Aspiring actors are invited to showcase their skills and bring their passion to auditions, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on August 21st and 22nd. The auditions will take place at the Stephen W. Slaughter Theatre, located in Building C on the BPCC campus, 6220 East Texas Street, Bossier City.
All interested actors, regardless of experience, are encouraged to attend. While a headshot and resume are welcomed, they are not mandatory. To expedite the audition process, participants are recommended to arrive at least 15 minutes early to complete an audition form.
Under the expert guidance of Program Director for BPCC Theatre, Ray Scott Crawford, the magic of Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Cinderella" is set to come alive on stage. This iconic musical adaptation weaves a magical spin on the timeless fairy tale, seamlessly blending the captivating compositions of Richard Rodgers and the lyrical finesse of Oscar Hammerstein II. With its toe-tapping melodies and enchanting narrative, "Cinderella" promises a jubilant celebration of love, dreams, and the promise of happily-ever-afters, leaving audiences humming and smiling well beyond the final curtain.
The audition process is open for all lead and secondary roles within this grand ensemble production. The BPCC Theatre wholeheartedly welcomes community members to audition, extending a special call to performers aged 16 and above, representing diverse ethnicities, gender identities, ages, and abilities.
Prospective participants should anticipate a dynamic audition experience that includes singing, dancing or movement, and script reading. While BPCC Theatre students are required to present a 1-minute comedic monologue, other students and community members auditioning are not obliged to prepare monologues or musical selections. For those interested, a prepared 16-bar musical piece (sheet music or phone track) is recommended but not compulsory. Comfortable attire suitable for movement is advised.
The show will grace the stage on the following dates: 7:30 p.m. on October 19th, 20th, 21st, 26th, 27th, and 28th, with additional matinee performances at 2:00 p.m. on October 22nd and 29th.
