Itβs that time of year again. The Belize Powerlifting Association is hosting its annual national powerlifting championships this Saturday and Sunday, March 16th and 17th at the SJC Gymnasium starting at 9:00 a.m.This year we have five athletes taking part. Three are males and two are females. Of the five, three are returning athletes and two are new names. We welcome our newest lifters with much enthusiasm and are excited for them as they set foot on the platform for the first time.
Our powerlifting athletes from Team Kinetic Health and Fitness are:
FEMALE POWERLIFTERS (Both are returning athletes):
1. Kaelie Burgess competing in the 52kg weight class, Sub-Junior division
2. Shakira Oxley-Tsai competing in the 57kg weight class, Master 2 division
MALE POWERLIFTERS (2 new and 1 returning athlete):
1. Leshaun Simmons (new lifter) competing in the 105kg weight class, Sub-Junior division
2. Orville Leal (new lifter) competing in the 93kg weight class, Junior division
3. Leo Matura, returning athlete competing in the 83kg weight class, Open division
We encourage our followers to come out and support not only our athletes, but all athletes and check out the display of strength in all the various weight and age classes as the athletes take to the platform. The powerlifting competition is a display of absolute strength, proper training as well as a reminder that building strength is not limited to age. You can always work on getting stronger and keeping healthy.
Best of luck to our lifters! Wishing them three white lights. The bar is loaded...let's do this!
