On Sunday, July 14, 2024, at 4:00pm, the Lake County History Center will present its third annual "Boys of Summer" speaker's program. This year's presenter is the prolific author, Marty Gitlin. The program begins with a baseball buffet at 4:00 PM with the return of our famous hot dog bar. There will also be peanuts, popcorn, and Cracker Jack on the menu. After the meal, Marty will take over. He will discuss his book "The Saga of Sudden Sam McDowell." Sam McDowell seemed to have it all. Considered by many to be the next Sandy Koufax when he signed with the Cleveland Indians, Sam boasted one of the fastest arms in major league baseball. But on the inside, he was playing in an alcoholic fog, beset by addiction, depression, narcissism, and thoughts of suicide. Marty will also discuss his book "Ultimate Cleveland Indians." Cost of the program is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. If you love Cleveland Baseball, you will not want to miss this! For more information or ticket assistance, call the History Center at 440-639-2945.
