Wednesday, December 17th. 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM.Home for the holidays and looking for something to do? The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service recently cleared new paths off the popular Boy Scout Road trail in Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge-- come explore them with us!
Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge may be the largest undeveloped natural area in St. Tammany Parish, and we are so lucky to have it publicly accessible right in our backyard. Much of its 18,000 acres is marsh, but much of it is mixed pine flatwoods dotted with hardwoods.
The entrance to the Boy Scout Road Trail parking lot is where Boy Scout Road meets Paquet Road in Lacombe. The approximate address is 29853 Paquet Road. The entrance is well-marked.
Please bring snacks, water, and dress appropriately for the weather. Close-toed shoes preferred. The hike will be approximately two-miles round trip. We will begin on a boardwalk, and the rest of the trail will be cut grass/hard packed mud. There are no facilities at Boy Scout Road.
