Join us on a post Christmas walk to learn about the stories & myths connected with the ‘Drake Stone’ and the castle that dominates the area.Hear about the stories & myths connected with the ‘Drake Stone’ & the castle that dominates the area. The walk leaves the Forestry car park & heads south west through the wood to the ‘Drake Stone’ & on to Harbottle Lake & north & east to the road towards Alwinton. Before the church we turn right off this road towards the Lime Kiln & Park House. There are wonderful views from here of the Drake Stone & Harbottle Castle. We then take the footbridge & continue through Harbottle Village with the castle on our right back to the car park.
Dress for changeable weather and wear suitable footwear. Bring a packed lunch, snacks and a drink for the break.
Dogs are not permitted at this event.

From Rothbury take the B6381 west through Thropton. At ‘Flotterton’ take the right signed ‘Alwinton’. Harbottle is about 5 miles. The car park is in the woods on the left about 0.3 miles after the village.
