About this Event
As part of our commitment to Brotherhood, Scholarship and Service, Brooklyn Sigmas have awarded deserving high school graduating seniors an annual scholarship. Named in honor of our late brother, Hutson L. Lovell Esq., the scholarship rewards one young man of African-American or Latin descent per academic year who demonstrates academic and community service excellence within the Brooklyn community. Bro. Lovell, who was an attorney and counselor-at-law, established the first African American legal firm in downtown Brooklyn during the late 1920’s. Besides holding many chapter offices, he also served as Regional Director of Education, National Director of Social Action and became the 16th International President of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
