About this Event
Building on the basics of Bourbon 101, our Bourbon 201 class dives deeper into the world of bourbon for those ready to explore more complex flavors and advanced techniques behind this beloved American spirit.
Join us as we go beyond the fundamentals, delving into the nuances of premium and barrel-proof bourbons. Together, we’ll taste and discuss the elements that elevate bourbon from a great whiskey to a masterpiece.
In this class, we’ll explore:
- How barrel-proof and single barrel bourbons differ
- What influences bourbon’s complexity and depth
- The aging process and its effect on flavor
- The role of finishing techniques, such as sherry cask aging
- How to fully appreciate bourbon neat or in sophisticated cocktails
Your experience will feature a whiskey flight with six exclusive bourbons: Blanton's Single Barrel, Western Reserve Distillers 8 Year Single Barrel, Blanton's Straight from the Barrel, Western Reserve Distillers 10 Year Barrel Proof, Angel's Envy Bourbon, and Western Reserve Distillers Sherry Cask Finished Bourbon. Each bourbon has been carefully chosen to showcase unique characteristics and complexities that will take your bourbon knowledge to the next level.
In addition to the tasting, we’ll provide a curated food offering featuring an assortment of meats, cheeses, olives, hummus, and other small plates to complement the flavors of the bourbons.
Classes are held at The Distillery, our on-site restaurant at Western Reserve Distillers, where you’ll learn and taste in an interactive, welcoming environment.
We look forward to continuing your bourbon journey with you!
