In 1954 two friends drove out into the country. The air was crisp, clear with the bluest sky. The car stopped, both men got out. One man looked over the orange groves and walnut trees with a smile on his face, the other wondered why they had stopped here in the middle of nowhere. The smiling man said, I’m going to buy some of this land, and I brought you out here so you could see it, and I’m telling you; you should buy some too.
The friend declined, not seeing one good reason to buy way the heck out here, there were no facilities, no restaurants, nothing!
Many months later some other people bought the land all around the land the smiling man bought.
Years later, after the smiling man developed the land, he went back to his friend and showed him why he bought that land.
The two men were Walt Disney and Art Linkletter. He gave Art a personal tour of Disney Land.
Walt Disney paid as little as $107.00 an acre for some of the land, total cost was $879,000 for 160 acres. The reason Walt failed to get Art to buy was simply, he was not speaking Art’s language.
