We are pleased to offer a 3.5 hour workshop covering the essentials of natural botanical dyeing for textiles with artist Megan Mesloh. This course teaches students how to mordant or “pre-treat” fibers to accept dye derived from locally foraged plants. After introductions and tea, we will take a curated walk through the garden to identify common dye plants and discuss harvesting practices and plant processing. All necessary steps of immersion dyeing on cotton, wool, and silk fibers will be covered. Each participant will create a card with the day’s colors and a dyed silk scarf to keep. All materials provided. Reduced-cost scholarship spots may be available. If you would like to be added to the waitlist for these, please email [email protected].
10am-1:30pm, bring a sack lunch if you wish. Tea provided.
