Judge Geraldine Hines, a retired Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Justice, was a long-time adjunct professor at Northeastern University Law School starting in 1980, where she taught criminal advocacy and inspired students with her extensive background in civil rights, public defense, and pioneering work as the first African American woman on the SJC. She was known for her dedication to justice, challenging authority, and active community involvement, sharing her wisdom with students and the broader legal community for decades.
SHARRA OWENS, daughter of the first black senator of MA Bill Owens. Senior Director of Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity in private sector, she is a social impact leader and a mission-driven change agent. With more than 15 years of experience across sectors and industries, she successfully transforms cultures, builds capacity and accelerates positive change. She excels in relationship building and management in complex, matrixed organizations among all stakeholders – donors, customers, employees and volunteers to connect their why to the organization’s vision and mission.
Charles served as a member of Boston City Council for thirty-two years, 1966. Charles graduated from Boston Technical High School in 1965. Charles then received a Bachelors in Economics at Tufts University in 1970 and later his Masters in Public Administration at Harvard University in 1991. While at Tufts University, Charles founded the Afro-American Society and the African American Cultural Center.
Kevin C. Peterson is the founder and executive director of The New Democracy Coalition, a non-partisan and non-profit organization that focuses on civic literacy, civic policy and electoral justice in Boston, Massachusetts and across the United States.
