ABOUT THE PLAY
When Anna accepts a dazzling emerald necklace from a wealthy patron, her newfound independence threatens Claire’s quiet control. Sparks fly further when Claire’s infatuation with a younger woman entangles them both in a web of jealousy, secrecy, and scandal.
Mamet’s first play written exclusively for women shatters period norms with razor-sharp dialogue and uproarious wit. At once a celebration of female partnership, a bold exploration of queer desire, and a critique of rigid social hierarchies, Boston Marriage delivers a fresh, fiercely entertaining portrait of women and queer lives on the verge of transformation.
