Walk with Honor O'Brolchain to discover the history of Ranelagh and Rathmines.
About this Event

STARTS outside Morton’s – Dunville, Belgrave (lwr.) Belgrave Sq. corner, Palmerston Rd. To Cowper crossing and back, Belgrave Rd., finish at the back of the church.

There are several suggestions as to where the Ranelagh/Rathmines border lies but when most of their building was expanding they were both in the Rathmines Township so, treading carefully, this walk goes from one to the other, from Morton’s, one of the oldest Ranelagh shops to the beauty of the now public, Belgrave Square and the 1649 Battle of Rathmines, now covered by large lovely houses where several great painters, some Yeats, more Becketts, two Taoisigh and the builder and owner of most of the road for its first 60 years lived.

The walk finishes on the Rebel Road, the Red Road and Belgrave Road, home to revolutionaries, polilticos and a very great doctor.

Recommended donation of 10e (5 concession) per person. One ticket allows up to six people. Please let us know how many people in your group by putting a number after your name eg John Smith 3

Ranelagh Arts is a charitable voluntary organisation and your donation goes towards the cost of events, paying artists and performers and of running Ranelagh Arts centre.

Ranelagh Arts wants everyone to feel and be safe. To that end we ask everyone to wear masks on the walk and, if you find after booking, that you are ill or have been exposed or are waiting for a test that you cancel your tickets. Any donation you made will be refunded on request.
