Stress weakens our immune system which makes our body become more prone to viruses and sickness. The more we stay in sympathetic mode the harder it is for us to relax and be still. When we are in sympathetic, stressed mode there is minimal oxygen flow, our body cannot function properly. We are creating not only pressure on our body by breathing fast, shallow, loud, hyperventilating but we are also creating a place for unhealthy environments where disease thrive. Unfortunately sympathetic and parasympathetic modes do not work together at the same time. You’re either in sympathetic mode or relaxed mode.
That’s why practicing functional breathing is so crucial to stay in relaxed mode most of our day.
