This is not your ordinary book reading. We're dropping the mic on the ultimate literary riot with Filipino powerhouses at 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝗭𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗯𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗸: 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗼 𝗣𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗧𝘄𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀!Joining this storytelling smackdown is Jose “Butch” Dalisay Jr., author of over 40 books of stories, plays, and essays; Professor Emeritus at the University of the Philippines; and former Chairman of the English Department and Director of the UP Institute of Creative Writing.
Beverly "Bebang" W. Siy, feminist word-warrior-slash-advocate and co-founder of Balangay Books, will also be joining the event and talking about patriarchy, motherhood, labor, and what it means to be a woman in today’s Philippines.
Then there’s Budjette Tan, the maestro who created Trese with Kajo Baldisimo. Trese is a three-time winner of Best Graphic Literature of the Year at the Philippine National Book Awards. In 2021, Netflix launched its anime adaptation—the first-ever Netflix Original Filipino anime!
Completing this powerhouse lineup is historian Ambeth R. Ocampo, our favorite Jose Rizal scholar bringing the tea on Philippine history. Ambeth is the author of over 35 books and a columnist at the Philippine Daily Inquirer. He previously served as Chairman of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines and concurrently as Chairman of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts.
