We’ll gather at Oakhurst Forest Preserve in Aurora, IL, for an afternoon of exploration, discovery, and fun.Just like Samuel and his father’s journey in the story, we’ll embark on a scenic hike through the preserve, enjoying nature and appreciating the beauty of a winter’s day.
Bring a small item to trade with fellow adventurers (think: a rock, shell, or handmade craft). We’ll re-create the spirit of generosity and resourcefulness that makes this story so special.

As always, reading the book is NOT required to come and participate in the event, but this book is particularly unintimidating with it's shorter length and beautiful pictures, we hope you enjoy this classic as much as we have!
