At 6pm Peter and Don will do a short presentation on the book, followed by a Q&A session.No booking required. Books will be available to purchase in store on the day. About ‘The Flies That Trout Prefer’
For over a decade, Peter Hayes and Don Stazicker utilised cutting-edge video and photographic technology to investigate what really happens when trout take flies, both natural and artificial. The results overturned many long held comfortable assumptions about trout behaviour.
Their slow-motion and underwater videos revealed previously unrecorded behaviour that escapes the unaided human eye and led to the development of many new fly patterns and new ways of presenting them.
These flies represent vulnerability better to the trout – they catch more fish and especially more difficult fish. They can be tied with greater simplicity and without the stress and pressure of having to achieve fly tying perfection.
The Flies that Trout Prefer results from over 4000 videos and 50,000 still images taken on rivers in the UK and abroad. Scannable QR codes in the book show related videos. This book will fundamentally alter how you tie and present your flies, particularly to selective, hard to catch fish.
