Finley is the author of many books including four mysteries and a personal account of his sailing adventures. Although Jimmy Flynn’s War is Finley’s latest book, fans can have copies of his other books signed too.Finley’s latest mystery Jimmy Flynn’s War, tells the story of Jimmy Flynn, who is living alone with nightmares after returning from active service in the Second World War until a suspicious death and unexpected inheritance draw him back to his childhood neighbourhood in the mining town of Scranton, Pennsylvania. Flynn and his oldest friends and newest acquaintances have to battle long-buried secrets and emerging turf wars if they are going to come out alive. But will mental scars of a foreign war prevent Flynn from surviving the one in his hometown?
In addition to mysteries, Finley has written about his sailing adventures in Sailing in Circles, Goin’ Somewhere: Not Your Typical Story. The book which is a funny, bittersweet memoir that follows Finley over seven years, as he builds a classic 1930s wooden sailboat and, in 2004, attempts to circumnavigate eastern North America. He leaves the Island and tracks along the rugged coast, up the St. Lawrence River, and through the Great Lakes. Alone, he encounters heavy fog, near-collisions with freighters, mechanical breakdowns, enormous seas, several brushes with disaster, and even a hostile reception at one French-speaking port. It all comes to an inglorious end when he and his boat, the Arja D., are stuck in, of all places, Peoria, Illinois.

Finley Martin has a B.A, M.A. (English) and a B.Ed., as well as Master’s Certificate for forty-ton vessels. For two years he was public relations director for International Correspondence Schools and its subsidiaries, and he taught writing courses at the University of Prince Edward Island. His publishing credits include poetry, short stories, history and mysteries. In addition, he edited and contributed the literary anthology New Atlantic Writing. Finley has penned feature stories for US and Canadian magazines and wrote and narrated journalism pieces for CBC-Radio.
