Memphis writer and filmmaker Willy Bearden is well-known for his documentary films and books. His latest work, "Mississippi Hippie: A Life in 49 Pieces," is a memoir that shares the stories of his youth and young adulthood, from his hometown in the Mississippi Delta to Memphis and beyond.

Willy Bearden is the voice of “On This Day in Memphis History” on WKNO, NPR for the Midsouth. He hosts WYPL’s Dialogue television program and WYXR’s “Songs that Move You” radio show. For the past thirty years, he has written and produced films for the Elvis Presley Birthplace Museum, The Grammy Museum Mississippi, the Cotton Museum, The Blues Hall of Fame, and other museums in Memphis and Mississippi. He is the author of five books. He was born and raised in Rolling Fork, Mississippi, in the Deep Delta.
