We are thrilled to welcome local author Marion Pearce for the launch of her fascinating new history, “The Struggle To Build Southend’s First Pier”. We will also have the honour of hosting our Mayor, Cllr Nigel Folkard and Mayoress Marion Folkard. As many of you will know, the first pier was a wooden structure - but it took years before it could be built. Marion’s book takes us on a highly readable journey to those early days.
