Blending personal accounts with evidence-based insights and up-to-date information, and written from a perspective of empowerment and self-acceptance, the book promotes pride, strength and authenticity, covering topics including self-advocacy, mental health and camouflaging and masking as well as key moments in life such as coming out or transitioning socially and/or physically. Written by two leading autistic trans activists, this book honestly charts what life is like as an autistic trans person and is vital, life-affirming reading.
About the Author : Yenn Purkis is an author of four books, public servant and passionate advocate for Autistic people and their families. Yenn has also contributed to other books, journals, blogs and websites. Yenn has a diagnosis of Asperger Syndrome and atypical schizophrenia.Yenn has as a Master's degree from RMIT University and has been working full-time for the Australian Public Service as an advisor since 2007. In between writing and paid work, Yenn frequently gives talks about living well with Autism and mental illness. Yenn gave a presentation on Autism and resilience at the TEDx Canberra conference in 2013 and facilitates a support group for women on the Autism spectrum and has their own internet radio show entitled Yenn's Autism Show. Yenn lives in Canberra.
