About this Event

A moderated conversation on how to be a starving artist -- but without starving.

About the book:

Dreaming of a career in a creative field? Successful television producer/director Jeannie O’Neill shows you how you can use the methods and strategies of a Hollywood producer to start and build the career you want.

Using her techniques, you can absolutely design a creative career and life you love. She did it, and so did the many thriving creatives she interviewed for this book, including actors, photographers, opera singers, tattoo artists, composers, audio engineers, and more.

And she did it without any personal connections, or any one big lucky break. How?

About the author:

Jeannie O'Neill has been a producer, director and writer on hit TV shows that have become part of the popular culture's landscape - House Hunters, The Oprah Winfrey Show, Deal or No Deal, and Unsolved Mysteries, to name a few. Her work spans all non-scripted genres, including documentary, talk, game, and hidden-camera sketch-comedy. A long-time member of both the DGA and the PGA, she now turns that same creative magic to the page to share insider know-how for crafting the creative career of your dreams.

Mr. Bormanis is an American writer and television producer. Most recently, he worked as a writer and co-executive producer for the Disney+ television series The Orville, created by and starring Seth MacFarlane, and also for the Peacock series The End is Nye, starring Bill Nye. He has also been a writer, consultant, and producer on Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Enterprise, The CBS dramas Threshold and Eleventh Hour, ABC Studios Legend of the Seeker, Disney’s Tron: Uprising, National Geographic’s Mars docudrama series, and the Fox / National Geographic series Cosmos. He received a B.S. in Physics from the University of Arizona in 1981. He earned an M.A. in Science, Technology, and Public Policy from the George Washington University in 1993, under a NASA Space Grant fellowship. His thesis, focusing on the NASA planetary science exploration program, was supervised by Dr. John Logsdon, then-director of the Space Policy Institute at GWU.
