You're invited to join us at the Kurt Vonnegut Museum and Library on Oct. 25 for a night of cocktails and crime fiction as we celebrate the publication of Best American Mystery & Suspense 2025. The event is free to attend. All proceeds from book and drink sales will go to support the programs of the Vonnegut Library.

Meet Our Featured Guests

Joining us to read and sign books will be some of Best American's contributors, including:

James D. F. Hannah

Author of the Shamus Award-winning Henry Malone series, whose work has been nominated for the Anthony Award and the Pushcart Prize. Hannah's short fiction has appeared in Best American Mystery and Suspense; Ellery Queen Mystery Magazine; Eight Very Bad Nights; Playing Games; Under the Thumb: Stories of Police Oppression; Vautrin; Rock and a Hard Place; Shotgun Honey; and The Anthology of Appalachian Writers.

Rob Smith

Anthony Award-nominated pulp thriller Good-Looking Ugly is available from Shotgun Honey. An editor at Rock and a Hard Place Press, his work has appeared in Apex Magazine, Pyre Magazine, Thriller Magazine, Dark Yonder, Rock and a Hard Place Magazine, Tough, and several other crime, horror, and speculative magazines, anthologies, and online publications.

Craig Francis Coates

Derringer- and Pushcart Prize-nominated author of short crime and mystery fiction, with publications in Rock and a Hard Place, Palisatrium, Tough, All Due Respect, Manzano Mountain Review, and The Dark City. He also serves as the editor of Cold Caller Magazine, a review of crime and mystery fiction.
