Join us for the launch of "Cairns Modern Pioneers: 50 Stories in 50 Years" by local author and researcher Carol Libke.Through 50 narrative-nonfiction stories based on personal interviews and research, Carol traces the transformation of Cairns from a laid-back far northern sugar town into a vibrant multicultural city between 1950 and 2000. Her work captures the voices and memories of the people who helped shape modern Cairns - its entrepreneurs, community builders, artists, and quiet achievers.
Enjoy afternoon tea on the veranda, meet the author, and celebrate this important contribution to the city’s social history.
