For sixty years Randy Blasing published poems collected in ten widely praised books. Now, as he turns eighty, he has selected his best past work to combine with his latest. Featured in such landmark anthologies as The Young American Poets (1968), The POETRY Anthology, 1912-2002, and Poetry Daily Essentials 2007, he also received fellowships from the Ingram Merrill Foundation as a poet and the National Endowment for the Arts as the co-translator, from the Turkish, of the first English versions of the legendary Nazim Hikmet's poetry, published in seven highly acclaimed editions by Persea Books. For half a century he taught English and creative writing at colleges across the country, from Virginia (William & Mary) to California (Pomona College) and New England (Community College of Rhode Island), while spending his summers translating in Turkey. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and educated at Carleton College and the University of Chica-go, he lives outside of Providence, Rhode Island, in Lincoln.
