'Athletics Scribblings'- Jim O'Shea/Jer CrowleySome time ago- 3 years actually- two of the older members of The Farranfore-Maine Valley Athletic Club were reminiscing about sports days of days gone by such as the 1950's and 60's. During their chat, the two members Jim O'Shea and Jer Crowley were regretting that their memories of athletic meetings in the area and countryside were not recorded in some fashion there and then, decided to put their memories and experiences on paper.
They both wrote bits and pieces at various times over the 3 years and then another club ...., Mike O'Connor suggested to them that their efforts should be put in book form. And so, it has happened. The book, ...... called 'Athletics Scribblings' will be launched by Mr JImmy Deenihan, Chairperson of Kerry Local Sports Partnership at Sherwoods Bar Farranfore on Friday, November 15th at 7.30pm.
All past and present members and athletics supporters from around the county are welcome. The book, records athletic activities in the greater Farranfore area and countywide from the 1930's to the present.
The book sells at 15 euros
