Book launch: Serene Khader presents Faux Feminism: Why We Fall for White Feminism and How We Can Stop
In conversation with Linda Martin Alcoff
At this inflection point for national and global feminism, local author Serene Khader presents Faux Feminism, an incisive and timely examination of how the pillars of feminism have eroded—and how all women, not just white neoliberals, can rebuild them. Khader, a professor of Philosophy and Women's and Gender Studies at the CUNY Graduate Center, debunks 5 myths of feminism and delivers a powerful alternative to exclusionary feminist movements. Grounded in global and intersectional lessons of the past and present, Khader pays particular attention to women of color in the Global South to imagine feminism’s future. Joining her on stage is Hunter College philosophy professor and fellow author Linda Martin Alcoff, for an in-depth discussion, audience Q&A, and signing.
