Book Launch: Samuel Ashworth presents The Death and Life of August Sweeney
In conversation with Tom Colicchio
Wine reception to follow
Creative writing professor Samuel Ashworth launches his food-forward debut novel The Death and Life of August Sweeney at Greenlight! August was a man whose appetite for excess led him from the bowels of greasy spoons to the towering heights of culinary stardom, before crashing back down to earth. When he dies on the line one night, the autopsy is performed by Maya Zhu, a doctor who has always believed that her success—even her survival—required her to deny her own appetites. The moment Maya meets August, dead on her dissection table, it sets off a chain reaction that will change her life—and his death—forever. The product of years of research into clinical pathology and fine dining, The Death and Life of August Sweeney examines what it means to hunger for greatness, and how redemption can be found in the unlikeliest of places.
