Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde presents We Can Be Brave: How We Learn to Be Brave in Life's Decisive Moments
Mariann Edgar Budde, the bishop and spiritual leader of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, D.C., came to national attention for her bold call for mercy and compassion in front of national leaders at the interfaith prayer service at the Washington National Cathedral in January 2025. But being brave is nothing new for Bishop Budde. In We Can Be Brave, the new young people's adaptation of her 2023 New York Times bestselling book How We Learn to Be Brave, Bishop Budde (in collaboration with acclaimed novelist Bryan Bliss) shares lessons in how to learn to be brave in life’s hardest moments. Budde weaves together personal experiences with stories from scripture, history, and pop culture of how adults and kids throughout history have faced decisive moments and heeded the call to be brave in challenging times.
Greenlight Bookstore and Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church are honored to partner to host Bishop Budde for an all-ages talk about her new book, followed by an audience Q&A. Admission is free but space is limited; please RSVP to reserve your seat. Book signing to follow
