About this Event
Our in-person BOOK DONGNE event is a gathering that celebrates Asian-Canadian voices and media arts. This event will be led by more than 25 Asian-Canadian professional artists and Asian community leaders. We will bring together more than 200 artists, writers, filmmakers, and creators from around Montreal to share their experiences as members of the Asian community.
Whether you are a film or literature enthusiast, artist, author, student, or someone who is curious about diaspora stories and films created by independent artists, this event offers a meaningful and safe space to listen, reflect, and connect.
PROGRAM:
- Live music performances featuring Ziya Tabassian and Abdul-Wahab Kayyali
- Panel discussion moderated by Guy Rodgers and featuring five panelists who are eminent members of the Montreal arts community
- Zine making workshop focusing on personal narratives and recipes, led by multidisciplinary artist Le Lin
- Writing workshop led by author Jinwoo Park, author of the acclaimed novel Oxford Soju Club
- Short film screenings by Asian-Canadian filmmakers in Montreal
- Multiple networking opportunities throughout the day
About Arts East-West
Arts East-West (AEW) is an artist-driven nonprofit media arts organization established in Quebec in 1995. Through MAFF and our Asian Art Publication Laboratory (AAPLab), we support, disseminate, and create works across cinema, new media, and digital arts via public programs (screenings, exhibitions, workshops), knowledge exchange (publications, roundtables, conferences), and professional development (residencies, networking).
