About this Event

Join DC EcoWomen in a discussion of Katherine Hayhoe’s “Saving Us: A Climate Scientist’s Case for Hope and Healing in a Divided World”.

This book is a follow-up to her 2018 Ted Talk ‘The most important thing you can do to fight climate change: talk about it’ and her goal in writing the book is “to show you how to have conversations that will help you to reconnect with friends and family in real life, building genuine relationships and communities rather than tribes and bubbles.”

As described by The Guardian, “[Saving Us] is an entertaining masterclass on the science of communication, which pulls no punches about the threat that humanity faces or the size of the task to avoid catastrophic consequences.”

There will be an in-person discussion on Saturday, January 28 from 12-2 in the Kogod Courtyard at the National Portrait Gallery and a virtual discussion on Wednesday, February 1 from 7:30-9pm. Join us for one or both conversations. Those who register will be asked, in the weeks prior to the events, to indicate whether they will attend in person or virtually.

We highly encourage you to borrow the book from the DC Public Library, Arlington Public Library, Prince George's County Library, or other local library; or purchase from a local bookstore.

DC EcoWomen events are open to women and those who identify as women, including members of the LGBTQ community and gender-fluid individuals.

Please note: If you have been exposed to someone in the last 14 days who has been diagnosed with or tested positive for COVID-19 and/or if you have symptoms consistent with COVID-19, you should not attend the in-person event.
