Welcome to our Aug-Oct book club kit: One of the Good Guys by Araminta Hall, a scorching psychological thriller and a twisty page-turner with razor sharp social political issues. It challenges readers to consider what is right and wrong, and what you think is right may actually be wrong.
Synopsis:
It tells the story of Cole, who, newly separated from his wife, leaves London for a fresh start in the countryside. He accepts a job as a wildlife ranger and settles into a cozy seaside cottage, relishing the escape from the hustle and bustle, and relentless careerism that strained his relationship and mental health.
In his new surroundings, Cole meets Leonora, a reclusive artist living next door. He is instantly charmed by her warm and gentle spirit. As they forge a connection on the cliff's edge they call home, two young women activists raising awareness about gendered violence disappear while passing through the area.
Suddenly, Cole and Leonora find themselves at the centre of a police investigation and a resulting media firestorm. As the tension escalates, they quickly realise that they don’t know each other as well as they thought.
