About this Event
Join us for the Book Club for Art Lovers February monthly meeting. This month we'll be learning about Japanese Netsuke, tiny hand carved treasures that have been used to hold clothing in place. Traditional Japanese clothing had no pockets so tiny boxes, inrÅ or baskets were used. These were secured with a toggle called a netsuke. Initially utilitarian, nesuke developed into objects of great artistic beauty, particularly during the Edo period, (1603-1867). Today, they are widely collected and admired. Recipients receive book information upon completion of their ticket purchase.
