About The Karma House
We’re a nonprofit kava bar, arts & wellness space, and community hub in Lakewood. Think: low-pressure events, warm hospitality, and a calendar full of ways to connect—open mics, workshops, circles, comedy, and more.
What’s a kava bar?
A kava bar is an alcohol-free gathering place centered around kava—a traditional drink made from the root of the Piper methysticum plant. It’s known for its naturally calming, relaxing vibe that’s great for conversation and community. If kava is new to you, our bartenders will happily guide you through your first shell. (Tea, coffee, and other non-kava options are available, too.)
Honoring kava’s roots
Kava comes from the Pacific Islands—especially Vanuatu, Fiji, Tonga, and Samoa—where people have shared it for centuries in ceremony, connection, and conversation. We serve kava with respect and gratitude to these cultures and the communities who carry this tradition forward.
Bring your book (or your curiosity), bring a friend, and come be cozy with us. See you at 7:30. 💛📚
