Books are one way that we can dive a little deeper into our collective work as part of the Permaculture Guild, and into our own individual perspectives and advocacy. Please join us for our next installment of the book club potluck series, as we delve into a local author’s newly published book on land stewardship. Bring food to share starting at 6, and we’ll begin our discussion at 7. Books may be found at Wolverine Farm, the High Plains Environmental Center (HPEC, https://suburbitat.org/), and a few copies have been ordered from Old Firehouse Books, so perhaps call these places first.
Jim Tolstrup, founder of HPEC, will lead a discussion of his recently published Suburbitat: A Guide to Restoring Nature Where We Live, Work & Play. From the Colorado Gardener website: Suburbitat offers detailed strategies for establishing and managing native landscapes, including grasses, shrubs, and flowers, that help to reduce demands on dwindling water supplies while restoring natural habitat. More than simply a book on gardening with native plants, it addresses human obstacles to conservation, including preconceptions about how landscapes should look while advocating strategies for working with rather than eradicating wildlife.
