Join linguist and best-selling author Michael Erard for the launch and a discussion of his new book, Bye Bye I Love You, which explores our first and last words and the surprising connections between them. Inspired by a literally shocking discovery, which Erard will disclose in his talk, he began an investigation into why linguists have given surprisingly little attention to language at the end of life. Erard compares this with our tendency to develop pre-conceived identities of children based on their first words. This conversation, part personal reflection, part anthropological, is sure to inspire a deeper understanding of the power of words to shape our lives from beginning to end. A Q&A with the author and book signing will follow. Books will be available to purchase onsite
