About the book

is a captivating book co-authored by Freddi Williams Evans and Scott’s widow, Anna Rita Scott, and produced by The Helis Foundation John Scott Center, an initiative of the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities.

This vibrant, 100-plus page hardcover volume showcases Scott’s cutting-edge artwork and celebrated career. Renowned as a sculptor, painter, printmaker, and artistic visionary, Scott captured the essence of New Orleans and Afro-Caribbean culture in his work, and his public art can still be found throughout the city and the country.

The book offers an intimate look into Scott’s life, featuring stories from his family and friends, profound quotes and full-color images of his artwork. Each piece is not just a visual feast but also a lesson in history and culture. Accessible to young readers and engaging for adults, this book is a delightful tribute to a true visionary.
