About this Event
A full-day event giving girls age 10-18 the opportunity to explore the creative world of the Book Arts. This is a not-to-miss experience at the Printing Museum!
During Book Arts Day for Girls, which runs from 9 am to 3 pm, participants rotate among 8 activity stations as they learn about the world of book arts, find out how books have been made over time and in different cultures, and explore the modern artistic expression of books. Each participant will have a chance to grind pulp and make paper by hand, learn mechanical and artistic methods of bookbinding, screen print their own t-shirt, print letterpress keepsakes and cards on an antique press, do paper marbling, and more! The day is filled with lots of hands-on activities and detailed presentations by industry experts and educators.
Cost: The fee for the Girls Book Arts Day is $50 per participant and includes most of the activities, with the exception of a t-shirt for screen printing. Participants should bring their own plain, light-colored cotton t-shirt for screen printing, or they can purchase one at the Museum for $10. Please plan to bring a sack lunch.
Registration: A parent can register their daughter(s), or a troop leader can register multiple girls from their unit. Please note: Before registering multiple participants, a leader must collect the info needed for each participant (name & age, plus rank & unit number, if applicable) and her parent's contact info (name, email, & cell).
SPACE IS LIMITED. Advance registration is required; not open to the general public. Our Girls Book Arts Days often fill up months in advance, please don't wait to register!
