About this Event
A full-day event giving girls age 10-18 (and their moms too, if they register as well) the opportunity to explore the creative world of the Book Arts. This is a not-to-miss experience at the Printing Museum! Advance registration is required; not open to the general public.
During Book Arts Day for Girls, which runs from 9 am to 3 pm, participants will rotate among 8 stations that explore the world of book arts, how books have been traditionally made in different cultures, and the modern artistic expression of books. Each participant will have a chance to grind pulp and make paper by hand, learn mechanical and artistic methods of bookbinding, screen print their own t-shirt, print letterpress keepsakes and cards on an antique press, do paper marbling, and more! The day is filled with lots of hands-on activities and detailed presentations by industry experts and educators.
The fee for the Girls Book Arts Day is $50 per participant and covers all of the activities. Participants should bring their own plain cotton t-shirt for screen printing, or purchase one at the museum for $10. Please also bring a sack lunch; there will be drinks, chips & candy available to purchase.
SPACE IS LIMITED. Our Girls Book Arts Days often fill up months in advance, please don't wait to register!
